Huntsville H S

 End Notes

NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR...

This is my daughter's senior year -- the last year she will do a musical at Huntsville High School. Finding a musical that would not only be a fitting end to her high school theatre career, but which would also serve all of my students and bring out their best qualities, was SO VERY important to me.

So I searched.  And searched.  And searched.  After digging through all the big publishers, I took a chance that Playscripts might have something that would fit us. The title first caught my eye.  And then the description, "All the world's a mall in this totally awesome musical mashup of Shakespeare and John Hughes."  I'm an 80s kid. I'm a Shakespeare nerd. I had high hopes.

But when I heard the first number, I knew it was meant to be.  The cast size was perfect, the lyrics were genius, the music was gorgeous.  And best of all, I could see my students in these roles.  It was kismet.

Then I wrote and BEGGED for recorded orchestration because I knew that finding and paying for live musicians would be a hurdle we might not be able to jump over.

And those lovely, lovely gentleman worked with me and got the music for us.  And now I just hope that we do their wonderful work justice.

I am so proud to present this musical to you.  I am so proud of these wonderful students who have worked so hard to achieve what you will experience here.

Thank you,

Velvia Keithley
