"Love is in the air..."
I cannot begin to express to you my excitement, overwhelming pride, and general adoration and love for the human beings you see performing on our virtual stage.
Last year (March 2024: "The Journey of Lily") INCA Drama Club fulfilled a dream of mine: We produced our VERY FIRST "Homecoming Show".
The idea of a Homecoming show was something I had always wanted to do, in which graduated students, or students who were no longer at the school, would come back and in a very short rehearsal process, work with the current Drama Club members to produce a show. It was wonderful and such a FUN experience for all of us - and it really solidified the idea of a 'theater family'.
"Sittin' in a Tree" is our 2nd Homecoming production, and I did not realize how much of a bucket list THIS show was going to be until it happened - because I have students from 2 years ago, returning, who STILL want to be in the show, who still want to spend time with us, who still believe in the power of community, love, friendships, and family.
This is my 3rd year sponsoring the Drama Club and one of my favorite things in this rehearsal process has been reminiscing with the veteran Drama Club members and explaining the inside jokes and stories to the new Drama Club members - I love showing my graduated students that their legacy does live on. Their hard work, laughter, and dedication was not in vain, and although they may be moving on to college/work/adult life, the seeds they planted are growing, blossoming, and thriving.
For those who were unable to be with us this time, I just wanted you to know
WE SEE YOU - WE LOVE YOU - WE TALK ABOUT YOU ALL THE TIME
