Mamma Mia! - November 07 - November 08, 2025

Iowa Falls-Alden HS Musical

 Optional Content

Dear Island Adventureres,

We are so thankful you have decided to join us for a short adventure to a remote Greek Island where we get to enjoy the timeless and classic tunes from ABBA. Since the first week of school, these students have been hard at work auditioning, dancing, singing, acting, and putting their heart and soul into this production for you. We hope you are able to escape reality for a few hours and enjoy the charm of "Mamma Mia!"

I am writing this ten days prior to opening night and I can't help but take a moment to appreciate the whirlwind that has been Fall. I cannot overstate how proud I am of these students and how much Mrs. Waring and I enjoy getting the opportunity to spend time with them. This is an especially amazing group of students who have brightened each day for us this musical season. They have exceeded our expectations this year all while many of them are involved in other activities such as athletics, dance, cheer, and more!

Speaking of Mrs. Waring, you all need to understand how much of a superhero this woman is and how much of a difference she has made on the musical program in just two years. She has helped changed the culture in the best way possible and has elevated the quality and level of dancing and costumes in these productions. It is only with her by my side that I can keep my sanity through this busy season. It is only with her there that the students are able to have success up on stage. I particularly enjoy her choreography for the show this year and know you will as well!

We now get to join Sophie as she searches for her meaning and identity through a whirlwind of a Greek tale. I hope that the students and all of us are able to remember that our identity is based on other people; otherwise we will be sorely disappointed. We also join Donna as she works through past events and comes to term with where life has taken her. I am firm believer that there is a reason and design behind everything that happens - even if we are all Donna at times and have life events to work through.

If you actually read all of this, you are greatly appreciated. As of the last performance, we will find musical season ending for the year. While I will be able to enjoy more nights in front of my fire and with more sleep, I speak for both of us when I say that Mrs. Waring and I are always sad to say goodbye to the countless hours we spend rehearsing with your amazing students. Know that we do not take this opportunity and responsibility lightly and appreciate the trust you put in us. We will miss our amazing seniors even as we know there are even better things ahead!

We hope you enjoy the production and we can't wait to see you back here again soon!

Thank you for joining us for the music!

-Mr. Waring
