Oliver! (MTI) - March 06 - March 08, 2020

Irvington High School

  Notes from the Directors

What can I say about working with all the individuals who together make up the ultimate team of "Oliver?"  I am a very fortunate person to be beside Mr. Stephen DiGiovanni, Dr. Aaron Patterson, Mr. Skyler Mosenthal, musicians, actors, & tech crew.  The talent is amazing & coupled with hours, days, weeks, & months of hard work we bring you another Irvington High School musical.  I am able to see students follow a passion outside the classroom.  For me "It's a Fine (fine) Life!!"

With love,

Geri Winterroth

Music Director

Consider yourself one of the family - we've had a glorious time together preparing for this show over the past eight weeks. Thank you for your time, efforts, enthusiasm, and oom pah-pah! I hope you agree: it's a fine life to participate in collaborative musical endeavors such as this...I'd do anything to work with you again. Please have fun, play out, and generously share your craft. I shall scream when it's all over, but we'll be back soon.

Pip pip, cheerio!

To design and construct the set and props of Oliver! the Tech Crew had to pick a project or two! From bridges to trap door sewer covers to coffins to twilight lighting, the team put in countless hours of production. The spectacular part of this team is their collaborative creative problem solving that brought the streets of 19th century London to life. A bar on wheels that must be secure enough to dance upon . . . no sweat! A high-society apartment complete with floor-to-ceiling window frames (that must be transported up a flight of stairs for positioning!) . . . no problem! A three-dimensional rock wall to frame the iconic London Bridge . . . all over it! This group tackled the sweeping scope of the set without missing a beat in attention to detail. Notably, the best part is how they support and involve one another in projects and joyously teach each other new skills. They are the epitome of a student-centric production; our kudos and thanks to all they have accomplished with Oliver! So, enjoy the show and consider yourself part of the furniture/set/lighting/props/crew!

Thank you for joining us today, and for supporting this wonderful craft.  Every member of this team has been working diligently and enthusiastically for the last two months, and I hope you enjoy the results of that hard work.  I am always amazed by the level of passion, talent, and dedication to theatre these students express, and this year's production is no different.  There has been an incredible amount of energy spent on details - placement of lights, selection of furniture, creation of custom artwork, creation of ensemble characters.  I invite you to appreciate the small touches that make our production unique.

I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with this talented, passionate, dedicated team.  Students, you've given me a gift; one that I will cherish long after the curtain falls.  Melissa, Geri, Aaron, Skyler, and Staci, thank you for your commitment to this work.  Your guidance, patience, friendship, and professionalism has been invaluable, and our students are so fortunate to have been led by you.

We'll be back soon!
