Notes from the Director:

Disney Channel's slam dunk movie musical comes to life at Lang Ranch Elementary School in the Senior Chorus’ production of Disney’s High School Musical JR. Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of friends and family while balancing their classes and extra curricular activities.
It’s the first day back to school after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes all congregate with their cliques. Basketball team captain, Troy, discovers that the super-smart Gabriella, a girl he met while singing karaoke on his family ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. The two cause a disruption between the cliques when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students rally against the threat posed to the "status quo," Troy and Gabriella’s courage to “break free” might just give others the opportunity to shine as well.
The students from last year’s Senior Chorus voted on the musical we are performing now and I couldn’t be happier with the choice of High School Musical Jr. Even though our performers are quite a few years away from entering high school, this show still has a message that can resonate with everyone. High School Musical Jr. teaches us not to allow peer pressure or any other ideals of popularity to stop us from being who we are.
These last few months have been a journey for the cast of High School Musical Jr. When I think back to where it all began and how far we’ve come, I can honestly say that I am truly humbled. We have an amazing cast of an extremely talented group of performers and wonderful parents who have been so supportive along the way. Every single person who had a hand in making this show possible, the performers, tech crew, my assistants and all of the parents involved, have been so dedicated and hard working. I would like to thank everyone who has devoted time to makeing this show great and to Dr. Sellers for allowing us to produce these wonderful musicals. It is so nice to have a principal who supports the arts and all of the kids here at Lang Ranch. I have seen each student grow and blossom during these few short months that we have been together preparing this show. I can honestly say that if you take away the lights, scenery, beautiful costumes, etc., it’s all about seeing the student’s faces smiling, laughing, growing, and creating together.
