Disney Channel's slam dunk movie musical comes to life at Red Oak Elementary School in the SuperStarz After-School Musical Theater production of Disney’s High School Musical Jr. Troy and Gabriella cause a disruption between the cliques at school when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students rally against the threat posed to the "status quo," Troy and Gabriella’s courage to “break free” might just give others the opportunity to shine as well. I couldn’t be happier with the choice of High School Musical Jr. for our musical this year. Even though our performers are quite a few years away from entering high school, this show still has a message that can resonate with everyone. High School Musical Jr. teaches us not to allow peer pressure or any other ideals of popularity to stop us from being who we are.
These last few months have been a long journey for the cast of High School Musical Jr. We have an amazing cast of extremely talented performers, a fantastic student tech crew and wonderful parents who have been so supportive. We also had such great support from our student volunteers from Medea Creek Middle School and Oak Park High School. Everyone who had a hand in making this show possible, the performers, tech crew, volunteers, my assistants and all of the parents involved, have been so dedicated and hard working. I would like to thank everyone who has devoted time to making this show great and to Miss LaFrenz for allowing us to produce these wonderful musicals. It is so nice to have a principal who supports the arts and all of the kids at Red Oak. I have seen each student grow and blossom. It’s all about seeing the student’s faces smiling, laughing, growing, and creating together.
