A note from co-director Michelle Moughan…
I am so incredibly proud to be presenting Godspell along with Alexis Hummell and Jared Rompella as Coleman's first student-run musical in over twenty years! This experience has been a whirlwind, since the day just a few short months ago when we officially pledged to take on the task of directing and choreographing a full-length musical ourselves. Godspell was the perfect choice; not only had it never been done before in the school's history, but the fun ensemble-style script seemed practically written for the amazing performers we have at Coleman right now! Before I go into the talent and expertise of our cast and production team, I would like to acknowledge you friend, and Coleman grad, Charlie Barnett, for putting the seemingly crazy idea of a student-run show into my head in the first place. He may not remember, but I could never forget the Christmas party (which ironically enough was hosted by our beloved theatre director of 25 years, Lisë Hopson) at which he mentioned how exciting it would be to put on a show run by the students themselves. Little did I know that just a few months later we would be here, doing just that!
I am so glad to be directing along with the expertise of Alexis Hummell and Jared Rompella. It has been exciting to collaborate and see our ideas come to life onstage with this compact cast of such strong performers. I am amazed at what we accomplished on our own in a little over a month, with challenges that the whole cast overcame with an incredible amount of professionalism and perseverance, (and perhaps a bit of Divine intervention).
