JMArts is delighted to welcome back our guest director, Jessica Nunn. A native of Chatham County, Ms. Nunn is a 1993 graduate of Jordan-Matthews. She received the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship, and completed her BA in English and Theatre at UNC-Asheville.  She taught English and drama for several years at JM before moving to England to teach and work in theatre there.

Ms. Nunn spent four years performing Shakespeare at the Guildford Castle grounds (including A Midsummer Night's Dream, Merry Wives of Windsor, The Comedy of Errors and Romeo and Juliet). She also directed several productions, including An Inspector Calls, a world premier production of Animal Farm, AntigoneThe Crucible and Of Mice and Men. She trained in stage combat with Tom Jordan, who works with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and is certified in single sword, broadsword, knife and unarmed combat.

After managing a professional theatre company in England for two years, Ms. Nunn has returned to North Carolina. She served as Artistic Director for the 2016 season of the Snow Camp Outdoor Theater and is the founder of the Phoenix Theatre Company, which will present  A Christmas Carol: A Dinner Show at the Pittsboro Roadhouse in December.
