Our journey to Arendelle began in the summer of 2022 when I got an excited phone call from Mr. Shafer telling me Jordan-Matthews had been chosen as the NC “United States of Frozen” winner. This was just the beginning of how we all, staff and students, would grow together during the next year and a half.
All the people and organizations we have reached out to have enthusiastically supported this production. I have never seen anything like the joy Frozen has brought across our community, and we are all grateful to everyone who has been a part of all of our Frozen events and activities!
Every person you see on this stage, and every one you don’t see, has, like Elsa, had to face their own challenges that seemed insurmountable. Auditions. Mastering music. Learning lines. Dancing. Shifting scenery. Costume quick changes (!). And facing an auditorium full of high expectations.
Our core belief is that high school theatre is not just a great show for our community—it is one of the most authentic learning experiences we can offer our students. In the arts, students create something new out of knowledge and hard work, and then refine and share that creation with others.
This belief is shared by everyone on our creative team, and we have gone on our own journey as five new teachers joined our staff. The level of collaboration and kindness among them has been astonishing.
Enjoy the show. And remember, Love Is An Open Door!
