Mary Poppins - September 02 - September 03, 2022

Juniper Village at Brookline

 Director's Note

The story of Mary Poppins and the Banks family is one of togetherness and growth. It teaches us that "sometimes families are upside down," meaning that no one is perfect (especially mothers and fathers) but through it all, they try to do what they feel is right. It teaches us to look past what we see on the surface and to take care of others regardless of what their situation is.

I think most importantly, it teaches us that it is never too late to make a change and try something new. It doesn’t matter what you may have done in the past or what limitations you have, you can always take a step in a new direction. The cast you see before you has taken a wonderful, gigantic step into the world of theatre. Some of them have experienced theatre in high school, college or maybe even a past Broadway Senior production. Some have never done theatre before in their life but wanted to try something new. These actors have graciously agreed to come on this journey and have proven that theatre does not have a cut-off age. They have all reminded me of the power of not just theatre, but togetherness, and how important it is to create something with others.

The pandemic has taught me to not take moments like this for granted; we never know what life will throw at us next or when we will have the privilege to create something as special as this. So I wanted to thank each and every one of the individuals that had a hand in making this production happen and thank you for coming to support this life-changing program. Enjoy the show!
