 End Notes

DIRECTORS NOTE:

I want to start off by saying thank you. Thank you to the cast of James and the Giant Peach, you are all wonderful. I've been directing for 20+ years but this is my directorial debut at Kids for Kids after a 3 year hiatus from directing. It's been an amazing experience, because of all of you!!

We cannot ever fully know why we do the things we do, what compels us, moves us, touches us. But, I do know that in the last few months, I have pushed you, which has motivated you all to do your best. You were all open to these challenges, you met them head-on, & your growth as artists became the driving force of James and the Giant Peach's success.

I have always believed that we all make an impact in each other's lives in profound ways. We are all pieces of the puzzle that need to be put together to be complete. This show had many pieces including my amazingly talented cast who made it a joy for me to come to the theatre three times a week. Russell, thank you for making a beautiful set for my kids to work on. Lillian & the many others who helped paint/dress the stage it looks beautiful. Casey, the costumes are everything I hoped they would be & more!! Courtney thanks for making dancers out of these amazing kids. Carrie, you are an incredible stage manager. You were always on top of things, even before I said something it was already done. Anthony, AKA my other half! You know what I'm thinking even when I don't say a word. Thank you for stepping into the role of Musical Director. You did an unbelievable job. I'm so thankful to have you in my life & on my side!! Last but not least my beautiful family for all their love and support, Always!! I'm truly blessed!!

Theatre has a remarkable power. It's intimacy & emotional honesty can transport us to a different place & change how we see the world around us. That is why we go, why we love it & why we always want more. Whether it is the riveting drama of Rent or the hilarity of Something Rotten, we are changed by theatrical experience. We are not the same when we leave the theatre. Change is the one constant of our time & it doesn't have to be bad, it's just new, & that's okay. Every night when I go to sleep, I know the next morning is a blessing, giving me the opportunity to transform the world, if only just a little.
Theatre transforms!!

Sincerely,
Jessica
