Annie Jr. - April 25 - April 27, 2024

King Philip Middle School

 FROM THE DIRECTOR

Dear Friends and Family of KP,

Welcome to our production of Annie Jr.! First, a little history for you... the original musical premiered in 1977 and was based on Harold Gray's comic strip, "Little Orphan Annie" from 1924. The musical features unforgettable songs such as "Tomorrow" and "Hard Knock Life", and is a treasured musical that is performed year after year around the world. You may also be famliar with several well-known film adaptations!

The story takes place in 1933 during the Great Depression in New York City. Struggles abound and characters deal with loss, financial difficulty, and the need for a loving family. Despite the obstacles that present themselves, the characters remind us that no matter how difficult life can be at times, "the sun will come out tomorrow"! Annie's positivity teaches us to never give up hope even when the going gets tough, and that love is truly what makes a family a family.

Staying true to the themes of this show, we are proud to partner with The Village, who is a local organization that strives to build "a community of strong, healthy families who protect and nurture children." They provide services for children, teens, and adults which include mental wellness, early child care and development, foster care, and so much more. We are honored to donate a portion of our proceeds tonight to their noble cause. Please consider learning more about them on their website, or visiting with their representatives at the booth in the lobby before the show. You can help support by donating directly to them, or by purchasing some treats at our concessions stand at tonight's show!

Thank-you for coming to see the hard work of our students and being part of the theatre family we have built here at KP.

With Gratitude,

Myles Ross

Director
