As a director that is fairly new to Suffolk Public Schools, I resonate with stories that explore newfound community and friendships. The Wiz includes these themes while also showing the resilience of Black America in spite of adversity.
My objective for this production was to bring these themes to life and inspire empathy and culture. Another goal for this production was to have as many student-led positions as possible, as we wanted to foster any and all passion for the arts.
I truly believe this production has helped me grow as an artist and storyteller, and it is my hope that this production strives above being solely for entertainment, but also as a catalyst for creative minds and open hearts.
