The Addams Family Young @ Part - April 24 - May 23, 2020

Kyrene Aprende Middle School

 Directors' Notes

Dear 8th graders,

“The show must go on” is a common expression used in the Theatre. It speaks to resilience in our Theatre world. It means that no matter what is thrown at us, we can handle it.

Well, it goes without saying that none of us would have thought that our annual Spring Musical would not have its traditional performances. With that being said, we are Theatre people. We react, we adapt, and we make art with what we have (or don’t have). Although you may not get the experience of opening night thrill or your final bow on the Aprende stage, know that you have contributed to this show. You learned songs, dances, lines. You pulled props, sewed costumes, painted sets. You made new friends and connections that will take with you.

In your own way, you helped make this show go on. You will always be a part of The Addams Family. You are, now and always, a Jaguar Player.

Thank you for your art,

Mrs. Brady

Hi 8th graders,

You are Aprende Strong.  I have watched you grow & mature to be amazing, resilient individuals who do not let the chaotic days overwhelm or defeat you, and I am in awe of your strength.  You will go on to high school, and then life beyond, and you will continue not only to endure, but to thrive.

You'll look back on the show that might have been with fond (hopefully) memories of the time you spent, either building sets, painting, sewing costumes, pulling & creating props, or rehearsing lines, blocking, and singing.  You'll look back on the friendships that you built and smile.  The 6th & 7th graders will look back to your leadership as they try to fill the roles you have passed on to them.

I appreciate all your hard work, your passion for theatre, and the creative ideas you brought to our productions over the last three years.  Whether you were on your first production or your sixth, you are valuable members of our Jaguar Player family.

And if you find yourself struggling just remember Lola's Six Steps to Success:

     1. Pursue the TRUTH.
     2. LEARN something new.
     3. ACCEPT YOURSELF and you’ll accept OTHERS TOO.
     4. Let LOVE shine.
     5. Let PRIDE be your guide.
     6. You CHANGE THE WORLD when you CHANGE YOUR MIND.

(you know I couldn't let you go without another reference to one of my most favorite musicals ever...)

Much love,

Smith
