Welcome to the Big Ol’ Blue!
The story of Finding Nemo has had a special place in my heart ever since I was a little kid. From watching the movie in the living room of my childhood home in Illinois, to seeing the stage show over 20 times at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, to serving as an assistant director at my job in Nashville, Tennessee during my first semester of college, and now—directing my own production here in Lake City—this story has been with me every step of the way.
It’s more than just a tale of a clownfish. It’s a story of trust, love, courage, and connection. Finding Nemo Jr. marks my directing debut in my hometown, and I could not be more proud or more grateful to share it with you here in Lake City—a place I’ve always dreamed of bringing more theatre to. Trusting in God’s call to take this leap has been the most rewarding journey.
This show also represents something even bigger: the start of a mission—“building relationships through the arts.” The process began with building a theatre space alongside my dad, Glen; my mom, Tavia; and my “church bestie,” Sheree Vann. From there, this production blossomed into a true labor of love. To every student and volunteer who has poured their heart into learning, practicing, painting, sewing, building, teaching, and performing—you are the heartbeat of this production. The countless hours you've given reflect exactly what our mission is all about.

- My production team, for their passion, creativity, and dedication.
- The parents and church volunteers, whose hands helped bring so much of the show to life.
- And most of all, God, for this opportunity to walk in the calling He’s placed on my life.
I could not be more proud of these tremendously talented and kind-hearted students. Watching them uplift one another, discover their gifts, and grow in their love for theatre has been the greatest joy. While many think I’ve taught these kids, the truth is—they’ve taught me. Every single day, they inspire me to be a better director, performer, and friend. So now, I invite you to sit back, laugh out loud, cry your eyes out, and smile ear to ear as you join us on an unforgettable journey through the big blue world with Finding Nemo Jr.

At first glance, Finding Nemo is a heartwarming tale of a father's quest to find his lost son. But beneath the vibrant ocean scenes and quirky characters lies a story that reflects something deeply spiritual: the unrelenting, compassionate pursuit of a loving Father for His child.
Marlin’s journey across the ocean mirrors the heart of God. When we wander—when fear, pride, or pain cause us to drift away—God does not abandon us. He comes after us. He moves heaven and earth to reach us, not because we deserve it, but because we are His.
Nemo, like so many of us, is curious, stubborn, and sometimes unaware of the danger around him. And yet, even when he's far from home, he is not forgotten. In every moment, his father is fighting for him—just as God fights for our hearts, even when we don’t see it.
As you experience this story today, we invite you to consider this: What if Finding Nemo is more than a tale of fish? What if it’s a reminder that no matter how lost we feel, God knows the way back—and He is coming for us! May it spark a fresh appreciation for God’s love for you—and may it inspire you to swim toward Him with trust, courage, and hope.
