Lantern Theatre: A Marist Performing Arts Group

 End Notes

A NOTE FROM THE PRODUCTION TEAM:

Ten years ago, Lantern Theatre was created with one simple goal: to provide the Marist family with the opportunity to participate in high-quality, innovative summer theatre that brings together past and present Marist students, alumni and faculty.

After a decade of bringing together current and alumni actors, singers, dancers, technical professionals across countless graduating classes, Lantern transformed from a simple goal and blossomed into an unstoppable summer tradition.

2020 was a year of great uncertainty. And as the smoke cleared, we have been offered the opportunity to view the world from a new perspective. Godspell, based on the Gospel according to Matthew, hones in on the formation of a community that carries on the teachings of Jesus long after he is gone. The show highlights the gift of different perspectives and the power of carrying on tradition-a beautiful sentiment that so perfectly aligns with the Marist message.

This community would not be possible without the support of Marist High School - Larry Tucker, Br. Hank Hammer, Br. Pat McNamara, Beth O'Neill, Patti Weinmann, Erin Kelly and Erin Vail - whose unending support has continued to move Lantern into the future.

We are also grateful to those who carried the Lantern torch before us and contributed to the program's longevity- Dominic Rescigno, Annie Garrigan, Carolyn Earner, Alex Newkirk, Jo Pieczynski and Jessie Rescigno.

Lastly, we cannot adequately express our gratitude for the most important supporters of all...YOU! Our loyal audiences who have returned summer after summer, spread the word for each show, brought along a friend or family member and provided the laughter, tears, and smiles that these actors work so hard to receive. You are our reason for continuing the Lantern tradition!

With Gratitude,

The Production Team of Godspell
