Notes from the Director

Oh, to be a child again.  To experience the wonder and magic of an amazing world.  To see the world anew and to truly believe that anything can happen.  Mary Poppins is all about recapturing our imaginative perspective in a world that is tending more toward disbelief.  It is the story of the Banks family, a hard-working father, a frustrated mother, and children who are left without guidance until the arrival of Mary Poppins, who shows not only the children, but the parents as well, how precious life is, and how we all need to take time to see the world as it really is... and also spend some time imagining how we wish it could be.

This show is a culmination of the efforts of a lot of people who have helped make this show "fly!"  First off, we would like to thank Flying by Foy and Harry Christensen for coming up to Fairbanks and helping Mary get off the ground.  We would also like to thank the Hazens, Gayle and Lee for all the time and effort they have put in to designing and sewing costume and set construction and design.  This production would also not be taking place if it were not for the efforts of our fabulous technical team:  Tom Creek, Deirdre Sagers, Greg Gustafson, and Joshua Bennett.  I owe them all a chocolate cake! (or a six-course meal, Lee).  Then there is everyone else who came together to paint, build, feed the actors (and actors are a hungry bunch!).   Everyone has gone above and beyond what we could ever ask or expect.  Thank you.
