Director's notes-
In the fall of 2011 LSA Drama mounted its first elementary production. The Jungle Book, a play, involved students as young as 2nd grade and as old as 6th grade. A few of these students still grace the stage today as seniors. While I know most students will find their way into being involved in one of the other wonderful opportunities here at LSA as they get older, I hope they will have fond memories of their time involved with our program and at least, respect the hard work that takes place by all involved in creating a production.
Our happy little tribe is a pretty special one. Our high school actors have the opportunity to mentor our younger students and support them by being their crew. How lucky are we that we have older students who want to help create something that is bigger than themselves? That we have parents that are happy to jump in and make the cutest elf shoes that were ever made or buy costumes at the thrift store right then incase someone else bought them before I could get there. Or better- found and bought them and they didn't even have a child in the show or involved! What a blessing to have our alumni come back and lead us in our prayer circle backstage before every show. Our alumni know this is a special tradition and ask to be a part of it.
Thank you for being a part of this production! Yes, you! The audience is so important! The actors feed off your energy and the better time you have the better time they will have. They are so excited to put on this fun and beloved show for you!
Parents, thank you for sharing the kids with us. So much talent, so much fun, so many bright stars. Thanks for all the volunteer hours you put in no matter how big or small!
I'll leave you with this...one of my favorite verses from the show:
"And if you're short on cheer, think about that year you woke up to find a brand new snow had fallen, the ornaments you made way back in second grade (thank you, teachers!), untangling the Christmas light took your father several nights, your mother claimed that she had proof there were reindeer on the roof! Remember who you were back then? Let those moments live again!"
We hope this show brings back those wonderful Christmas memories and gets your Christmas season off to a blessed start!! Thank you for coming!!
Have a sparklejollytwinklejingley time!
Much love,
Mrs.Oliver
