“It takes two flints to make a fire.”- Louisa May Alcott
Louisa May Alcott was on to something in her own poetic way. This production of Little Women was a labor of love, and I could not have done it without the help and support of so many people. I could not have made this beautiful “bright” show without a truly inspiring designer. Mr. Miller has astonished me with his brilliant designs for this show. He has brought the little cottage in Concord, Ma. to life!
It takes two flints to make a fire, to ignite a fire in our students to produce a marvel, a loving and warm story such as this one. Having been a fan of the novel since I was a young girl, directing and producing this show has been in every moment sheer pleasure. To see these characters come to life on stage, to talk deeply with each actor on who he or she is portraying and the motivations behind each line has truly been an inspiring process. I am amazed at the work these young actors have accomplished in such a short rehearsal process. The attention to detail is remarkable, and every member of Region 10 Players from our leading lady, Jo March, to our props crew, has contributed to bringing harmony to this classic story.
I hope as you watch this show you are taken back to a simpler time. 1864. Concord, Massachusetts. You are invited into the living room of a poor family who is rich in love: love for each other, love for their neighbors, love for art, and love for passion. The March family is an inspiration, and it is my Christmas wish that everyone who walks out of this theatre today, walks out feeling inspired to begin this holiday season with a full heart and open arms. We, along with Jo March herself, must learn one of life’s most precious lessons: have grace.
May this holiday season bring you happiness and grace. I hope our production of Little Women has filled you with the holiday spirit! Thank you for supporting the Region 10 Players, and have a very Merry Christmas!
