Lillian Osborne High School

 End Notes

As directors, we both set foot into this journey with no experience whatsoever, it was the excitement and strive to learn that allowed us to make it through in the end. Reading through the script we both knew that there were so many different directions we could take when bringing this project to life. Ultimately, one of the decisions we made was telling the story how it is - meaning no scenes were cut. Yes, it was indeed a risk to portray very mature scenes, especially having no experience going through them in our day-to-day lives - but we knew deep down this was the way to have our audience care for the characters in the span of 80 minutes just as much as we’ve been caring about them for the past four months.

Through Kat Sandler’s writing, we knew we wanted focus on the theme of growth - the idea that it is inevitable, change is needed, and who your surroundings are play a factor in growing as a person. This theme was very central since it way the main way we as directors resonated with our characters. They are normal people yet faced with life altering moments that force them to confront them in order to become healthier people. That represented us leaping through hurdles trying to make this show as smooth as possible and having many sleepless nights and lengthy text conversations with the goal of making this show a success. As a result - we grew from start to finish the same way our characters did.

Lastly, this show wouldn’t be what it is without our actors. This show was quite a challenge with the content and they pulled through flawlessly. We truly saw the strength and durability through the way they inhabited their characters. They cared deeply about not just their own characters but the story itself as well - we’re eternally grateful for the suggestions they gave us that we wouldn’t have thought of on our own. Reading the script it was clear that this production had to be a strong team effort - and we’re so proud of all the work you’ve done. We weren’t just a team - but we were Mustardians, and we feel deeply privileged to have you guys as Mustardians!

We hope you enjoy the show!
