Justice? Or...Just Me? The Bite - February 03

Lorinda Hawkins Smith

 Acknowledgements

I've had a lot of help along this Justice? Or...Just Me? journey.

First and foremost I’d like to acknowledge and thank Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.

I would like to acknowledge Melvin Ishmael Johnson who gave me the space to write Justice? Or Just Me? in Dramastage Qumran.

Brent Jennings who directed my ten minute original monologue and Eyvette Jones-Johnson who produced the event where it was first performed in 2007 and shoutout to Sandra Booker with her musical assist for said event.

I would like to acknowledge my collaborators Bruce Lemon Jr. and Deena Selenow who helped give me feedback for my REDCAT Studio performances in 2018. Thank you for making the time and Deena with the QLab provision.

Thank you John Nobori for letting me borrow your Final Cut Pro X for the edit of the workshopped piece and your help with Open Mic Night DTLA.

Juan Parada who made such a big difference being one of the curators for the year I presented for the REDCAT. Thank you for "getting" it.

I’d like to acknowledge Maite for being the first to invite me to perform my piece for her students. And everyone that has invited me since: Sara, Jude, Mary, Sophia, Suzette, Janine.

Riccarlo who helped me come up with the title Justice? Or Just Me?

Vincent Spean who I met in 2007 who designed the artwork for Justice? Or… Just Me? The Bite. Not just that logo but also the logo for Open Mic Night DTLA. Vinny, I can always depend on you.

Dylan Southard who taught me to not limit my vision to the stage but instead teaching me that anything can be done on stage.

Ben Guillory with the Robey Theatre Company who when he first heard my piece at an audition for his company suggested that I get into the Robey Playwrights' Lab.

Daphnie Sicre for bringing things together.

Emmanuel and Amanda. My inspirations.

Ron, for encouraging my work with the “Pages.”
