DIRECTOR'S NOTES

I used to watch Freaky Friday on The Disney Channel as a kid.  The one with Jodie Foster.  The one that makes me old!  And of course, the Lindsay Lohan/Jamie Lee Curtis one is the version that most kids know.  What many don't know is that it is based on a book!  And this is part of the reason it ended up in our season "From Page to Stage."

In reality, I saw a production of this show a few years ago at Nationals and loved the strong female roles, and the mother/daughter relationship (I have a daughter) and really wanted to do it.

So here we are!  This cast is fairly green and very eager, and we have had a great time working on this show.  As always, our students were also responsible for the design elements: scenic, costumes, lighting, sound, props, and publicity.  In addition to that, our student leadership team, consisting of stage management and student direction and choreography has allowed me to watch these students grow as leaders and creators by leaps and bounds and I could not be more proud of them.

We have some newcomers to our program and watching them learn how we work and understand our expectations has been a joy.  This is truly a great group of humans and I am honored to work with them.

We want our audience to have a great time, enjoy the story, and take away both the lessons from the show, as well as appreciating what a group of 50 teenagers are capable of creating in just a few short months!  Enjoy!
