NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR

  • I want to take the time to thank you all for your presence.  You, the audience, is the reason we do what we do.  Thank you for your support.

  • This show has been an enormous undertaking.  When I recieved the script in the mail last Fall for perusal, I was excited about the beautiful story and the message of the show.  I never imagined that it would challenge us at every turn, but am pleased that our troupe has risen to the occasion.  The challenges have ranged from choreographing without access to a musical recording, discovering how to dress and make-up animals and mythological creatures, to choreographing two major battle scenes.  We have been blessed to have Teri Barnaby putting in extra finger hours, Rose Chila befriending you tube and rolling with the punches, and being able to make the Ring of Steel Family part of our own.  Mrs. Dober's patience and understanding with the costumes and the creativity and planning of the Nelsons is unparalleled!

  • Regarding the show: C.S. Lewis is amazing, isn't he?  Remember the story of the Magician's Nephew from the fall play?  The tree that was planted from the remaining apple that Digory fed his mother grew and eventually Digory used the wood to make a beautiful wardrobe.  The Wardrobe becomes a doorway into Narnia for four new children.  As their adventure unfolds, we meet the white stag, a mythological creature who, if caught, grants a wish; keep an eye out for our White Stag throughout the show!

  • Something to think about: The story of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and its parallels to the story of Jesus Christ our savior are simply beautiful.  There are places, indeed, where the analogy fails, but the storyline helps us to meditate on to the idea of the sacrifice that was taken on for us.  I hope this touches your heart as it has touched mine.
