    Director

    Julia studied Theatre at Westminster University in London and received her B.A in Theatre from SUNY Brockport. Mrs. Heckathorn has taught Theatre Arts at MBHS for the last 4 years. Prior to that she taught Theatre & Dance in NC for 9 years. Her directing work on Little Shop of Horrors landed an invitation to perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world’s largest performing arts festival. This is Mrs. Heckathorn’s second time directing Shrek The Musical and hopefully won’t be the last! Mrs. Heckathorn has also directed Queens, Once Upon a Mattress, Fire Exit, Once on This Island (twice), Junie B. in Jingle Bells Batman Smells, Cinderella, Mary Poppins, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon and many others over the last 22 years. Julia has an amazing husband, Lee and three wonderful boys Aidan, Will and Gabe.

    Kelly Campman

    Music Director

    A native of Cabot, PA, Kelly Campman began teaching music in 1994. She also served as Director of Music at Zion UMC in Sarver, PA, and debuted an album with her band Clockwise Scarlett prior to relocating to Myrtle Beach, SC in 2006. Kelly began working for Horry County Schools as the music teacher at Myrtle Beach Intermediate. In 2011, Kelly transferred to MBMS to develop the choral program and remained there until 2014 when she was hired by MBHS. Kelly also completed her Masters in Music from Boston University in 2012. Kelly is the Director of Music at Little River UMC where she directs two choirs. a hand bell choir, as well as the band for the contemporary service. Kelly & The River Band released their debut album “Make It Happen” on June 26, 2021. Kelly resides in Little River, SC with her husband Shawn and their children Eva and Ella.

    Christie Karavan

    Choreographer

    Christie Karavan is a native of Myrtle Beach and a graduate of MB High. She has directed, performed in & choreographed an endless number of productions along the Grand Strand. Ms. Karavan has served as dance instructor for many state organizations as well as Director of the Myrtle Beach School of Performing Arts.
