This year the halls of Markham Place have come alive with The Sound of Music. My hope for each student involved in the show, either actor, stage crew, or pit band, is that they evolve into a better person for having been involved in this type of activity. Gathering people from various grade levels, different social circles, and with different interests and watching them work together to accomplish so extraordinary brings me happiness and excitement. The students who walked into this room on the first day of rehearsal have now changed and grown. They have learned something new about themselves, gained confidence, made new friends, and most importantly realized that they could do it! Each student who is involved in the show plays a critical role in making the show a success.
Thank you to Ms. Jennifer Brush for being my sidekick in this journey. It is always an honor and a pleasure working with you. You are incredibly talented, and we are all lucky to have your musical guidance.
Ms. Brush and I could not do any of this without the support of the parents of the students involved in the show. It would not be possible to put this incredible show together without parents driving their children, volunteering their time, and doing so many little things that make the show run so smoothly. Thank you for everything!
Finally, to my family: I appreciate you more than words can express. Your ability to support me never goes unnoticed. You each give me strength, encouragement, and love every day. Thank you dad, Rob, and Alexander for painting the scenery. Thank you Elizabeth for helping coordinate the Meet the Cast display outside. Thank you Maggie for keeping us company! Thank you mom for sacrificing your fingers to the needles and sewing so many of the costumes needed for the show! Michelle and Anthony, thank you for your encouragement, love and support. I love you all!
