Some personal notes from the Director:
I can't believe that we are back for our first live musical in three years! I couldn't be more excited to share this reimagined show with all of you.
"Look at the stars. The great cast and crew members of the past look down on us from those stars. They will always be here to guide you." (adapted from The Lion King)
Lion King Jr. was a journey that started 2 years ago. We were so close to the finish line before Covid shut down schools in 2020. This stage was home to the great cast and crew that we honor through these performances. We, the cast, crew, pit band, and directors of this show, hope these performances bring the spirit of the members of the cast, crew, and pit band of 2020. These students didn't have the opportunity to perform on the stage, but this show was reimagined to honor their hard work and dedication. We know that you are all watching "down on us and are here to guide us." We hope you all enjoy the 2022 spin on this show!
Thank you, Ms. Jennifer Brush, for being my sidekick in this musical adventure for so many years. I really couldn't do it without you. I know I never have to worry about the musical details because of your amazing talent! Mr. Jason Lakshmanan, your willingness to jump in to provide guidance, your musical talents, and your daily pearls of wisdom to this cast, crew, and pit band does not go unnoticed. Thank you is not enough to show how much appreciation I have for both of you.
Finally, to my family: "Being a part of this family means you are here for this family." - Abuelita (from Coco). I say this all of the time, I couldn't do this without the support of all of you. You are the people who I can rely on for everything from spending weekends handpainting the perfect props or sewing the amazing costumes. Also, your patience with me as I come up with last minute brilliant ideas, make changes because something isn't exactly the way I thought it would be, or even when I put in long days and come home completely exhausted. You are always there to pick me up and provide inspiration. Mom and Dad, you've always taught me to put my whole heart into everything I do, so this show is very much a reflection of that life lesson. Thank you for always being a model of putting your whole heart into everything you do. Rob, Michelle, Elizabeth, Anthony, Alex, Maggie, Lily, Frankie, and Gabbie, thank you for helping with all of the details that make the show special for my students. I especially love the days of working out choreography with the help of all of the little ones! I love you all.
