Mr. Popper's Penguins - February 19 - February 27, 2016

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR:

This musical production of “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” was made possible because of the unique and varied talents of 28 cast members, 26 crew members and scores of parents, family members and volunteers.  On behalf of the Marshalltown Community Theatre board, we’d like to say “thank you” to each and every one who made the extra effort to ensure our production was a success!

Producing a musical (with such a large cast) sure had its challenges.  Between Iowa snowstorms, school activities, late nights/sleepy children, Caucus, holidays, etc., etc., simply planning rehearsals took some creativity and extra planning.  A special pat on the back to each and every one who braved adversity to attend them.

Over the course of the show, the cast and crew really came together to form a special little family.  It’s one of the things I love about being a part of our community theater and this production was no different.  It was filled with talent, heart and just plain old fashioned hard work.  For what I’ve learned through the experience is that theater “people” are an inspirational bunch and I'm proud to have been a part.

Although there are some extra special people who really “stepped up” to ensure this production shined, I think it best not to single anyone out in fear of leaving one out.  I hope you know who you are…. HUGS!

As you watch the show, I hope you will be entertained and I hope you leave with a smile on your face as well.

For beneath the silly story line of this show, are a few encouraging messages:

  • An “average Joe” can achieve his biggest dreams if he believes he can, and;
  • The friends/family that come into your life can change it for the better!

I know this show has sure changed mine and I’m forever grateful.  It was an honor to have met and worked with this fine group of kids and adults.  They’ve all worked so hard… so now, ON WITH THE SHOW!
