"Into the Woods without regret, the choice is made, the task is set. Into the Woods, but not forgetting why I'm on the journey." Those lyrics perfectly describe the journey we have been on for the last six months. We made the choice to do a more complicated show, and our students rose to the challenge. Without regret, but rather with excitement, we cast the show and had our first rehearsal just before Christmas break. There were many tasks to journey through – learning all the difficult songs, the lines, the blocking, and the dancing. Our creative crew then came in and helped build and paint the set. We had costumes to find and alter, props to make, sound and light cues to create, and set changes to choreograph. But through it all, we made sure not to forget WHY we took this journey: because theatre is magic! Theatre has the ability to bring strangers together and create a strong family and sense of belonging for all involved. We have watched our students move from a group of largely unknown students across sixth, seventh, and eighth grade (plus one freshman!) to one big family who encourages and supports each other. So many have pushed beyond their comfort zones and pushed themselves and each other to be the best they can be. The result of this journey is a show we are proud to present to you tonight.
