Welcome to Mayfield’s production of Into the Woods.
This show is deeply personal to me. It’s my absolute favourite musical, one I’ve seen on Broadway more times than I can count, and bringing it to life with this incredible group of students has been an experience unlike any other. This project has pushed me to try new things, to collaborate in new ways, and to take creative risks I never imagined I could. What’s made it truly special, though, is the students. Their curiosity, courage, and dedication have reminded me why I love doing this work. They’ve reminded me that, like the characters in this story, we all learn and change through the challenges we face together.
Into the Woods is about wishes and consequences, about what happens after “happily ever after.” It explores how our stories intertwine, how our choices affect one another, and how community can guide us through even the darkest moments. Beneath the magic and the music lies a simple truth: none of us can make it through the woods alone.
Watching this cast and crew bring such depth, humour, and heart to the stage has been an extraordinary experience. Their creativity and passion have turned this beloved musical into something uniquely ours, something that celebrates what it means to grow, to fail, to forgive, and to begin again.
