Synopsis

Young con man Frank Abagnale Jr has found himself trapped by FBI Agent Hanratty in an airport terminal with no method of escape. Before his arrest, however, Frank plays his last card and pleads to be able to tell his story to the startled spectators. Reluctantly curious, Hanratty hesitantly agrees. Frank immediately sweeps them back in time through the roaring haze of the 1960s, complete with a full orchestra, sparkling dancers, and technicolor visions. With his wiles and cunning, he transforms from a typical high school student to a substitute teacher, a PanAm pilot, a doctor, and an attorney within the span of a mere few years. As he fakes, cheats, and forges his way through life, the glitz and glamour subsides to reveal an elaborate portrait of the psyche of an exceptional adolescent, shedding light on the twisting path that has brought both the agent and the criminal to this final confrontation.
