Dear Family and Friends of MCDS,

Today, we live more connected to the people we know than ever before. Friends across the world can instantly be reached via instant message, texts, phone calls, tweets and countless other forms of communication. Yet as we connect more and more with our family and friends, we purposefully disconnect ourselves from everyone else. In the company of strangers we wear headphones, stare at screens, and speak to people miles away. Before the show begins I encourage you not to look down at your phone, and turn it off. Look at the people next to you. Meet somebody new, and say hello. Experience the theatre in the way it was meant to be seen with a live audience and a group of actors telling a story.

This year is my first year directing here at MCDS, and as always no great accomplishment in theatre can ever be achieved alone. The cast and crew combined with the talents of our amazing faculty, and hard work and dedication took many people both on and off the stage.  I'd like to take a moment to recognize their contributions to the show, and to say thank you to the following people:

Ms. Quattro’s students: For helping with the set painting

Mr. Runge’s students: Faux Finish design and creation

Mark Runge: For helping with the set painting

Gabriel Robert:  For helping with the set painting

Eduardo “Tito” Crespo:  Stage Manager, Set Painting design, Set Construction

Pascal Robert:  Technical Director, Sound Designer and Audio Engineer, Set Design and construction

Mr. Johnson: For his support and showing me where things are in the CFA

Zach Pitchman: For the amazing Lighting Design, and Lighting Engineering

Ms. Alfonso: For helping me do all the admisitrative things, and believing in me

Joanne Mundy : For sewing and fixing the costumes so quickly

Ms. Pelletier: For making the buttons, and listiening to me

Mr. Mofsky: For just being supportive

To all the parents for their continued support and all the delicious foods

Tracey Barrow  and Open i Photo's for the headshots for the actors, and her stage photography

The students involved in this production have worked tirelessly and are making something great for the audience to see this evening! They spent night after night working very hard after schoool, and their time off, memorizing their lines, building the sets, understanding the sound and light cues and learning how to grow not only as actors but as human beings. Theater and the arts are extremely important to these students, and I am grateful to all of you for coming out to support us, and for being a part of it all.

Sincerely,

Laura A. Rizzo Ed. D.*c
