Failure: A Love Story - October 12 - October 14, 2017

 A Message From the Director

Each one of us has lost a loved one, perhaps many, in our lives. During the days and weeks following these sad times, we shed many tears. However, at some point in the greiving process, we begin to remember the good times, the happy times. Why do we do this? Why don't we stay sad? Because as you are about to hear, "Just because something ends, that don't mean it wasn't a great success."

The story of Failure: A Love Story revolves around three sisters, Nelly, Jenny June, and Gerty. These three sisters compose only a small portion of the characters that you will see tonight. Talking clocks, feral monk parakeets, and a mistakenly identified python are among a group of secondary characters that all bring together the message of our production. Each of them adds to the overall view of Failure, giving us more to think about with each passing minute.

Throughout this entire process, I have learned so much about myself as a director due to the students in this cast. You are about to see a very talented group of actors and actresses doing something that they love to do. Much like the greiving process of losing a loved one, we are all going to miss the comradery and friendships strengthened and grown through Failure: A Love Story. It is important for us to remember the show's wisdom and for us to celebrate our great success.

Thank you for coming to help us celebrate our personal success, the Upper School Fall Play. You may cry, you may laugh, but hopefully, we help you realize that the time you've spent with us tonight has been time well spent.
