SpongeBob The Musical - April 22 - April 23, 2022

Mill Springs Academy

 End Notes

Notes From The Director

This was the year of the comeback. Live theater has returned to Mill Springs and I couldn't be more excited. We are all getting used to the way things are. Pandemics, political upheaval, and uncertainty in the economy have caused a lot of stress and instability for our students. How do we process the shared trauma of the last two years? By putting on a show!

Bikini Bottom is a community that is trying to grapple with things impossible for individuals to do alone. How did they move forward? SpongeBob called on his friends to help him solve the problem. This is a lesson that we teach at Mill Springs. We rely on our community for support and accountability. We hold each other to a higher standard and provide encouragement. Hopefully, we can convince the rest of the world to put aside the urge to blame, exploit, and control. Maybe if we unite we can make a difference.

Our cast has united to overcome a lot of obstacles.  Sometimes the road is bumpy but together it's much more enjoyable. As it is my last year at Mill Springs, I find I forget that this moment was the last with these kids. It is hard to acknowledge.  Though sad, I know my life was made better by working with them. I only hope they feel the same. I have learned patience, empathy, and compassion from them. This is the grace we all must foster around us. I want nothing more than this lesson: We learn from difficult experiences that life is better when we support and rely on our community.

With Love,

Patrick Rose AKA Mr. Krabs
