More than four centuries after Shakespeare first wrote these words, this story continues to resonate because it speaks to something truly human. At its heart, Romeo and Juliet is not simply a love story—it is a story about the consequences of hate, the cost of anger, and the hope that understanding can break cycles of fear and violence.

When we began imagining this production, we chose to set it in the 1950s. It was an era marked by elegance and optimism on the surface, yet beneath that, prejudice, rebellion, and conflict ran deep. It felt like the perfect backdrop for two young people determined to define their own futures despite the world around them.

Community theater is a lovely thing. It brings people together from every walk of life, be they students, parents, professionals, retirees, and first-time performers. Yet, they share the desire to create something truly meaningful together. Every person you see on this stage, and many you do not, has poured countless hours into bringing this production to life our of the love in their hearts. This cast's passion, generosity, and commitment continually inspire me.

I hope this performance reminds you that love is stronger than hate, that empathy is more powerful than predudice, and that even tragedies, perhaps especially tragedies, can help us see the love we can share with the world.
