Seussical is a celebration of imagination, resilience, and the belief that every voice has value. Dr. Seuss’ stories may appear whimsical on the surface, but they speak to ideals that matter: responsibility, kindness, courage, and the willingness to see possibility where others see limits. In building this production, we focused on the delivery of those messages for both our students and audience members. Horton’s steady faith, JoJo’s expansive imagination, Gertrude's growth in self-image, the Whos’ determination to be heard, and the Cat’s joyful chaos all remind us that the world becomes richer when we allow creativity and compassion to guide us.

We chose Seussical for a number of reasons, notably the source material is accessible, familiar, family-friendly, and provides a stark contrast to the heavier themes of our last two shows, Big Fish and Into The Woods. We also chose this show because of the flexibility it provided for casting, we thought that this title would energize students within our program, and we hope to catch the attention of future students. Throughout this season, we have come to recognize that at the heart of Seussical focuses on the power of imagination, the importance of empathy, acceptance, and responsibility - all of which are important themes for our students in their lives beyond the stage.  Additionally, this show has provided our students with challenges in story telling, character development, and portraying fantastical roles.

As our students progressed through rehearsals, they embraced the journey—supporting one another, taking initiative when needed, and discovering that collaborative work is both demanding and rewarding. Their growth is visible in every scene they perform.  Thank you for supporting their efforts and for joining us in this celebration of Dr. Seuss’s enduring spirit. May this performance remind us all to listen closely to our hearts, think imaginatively, and believe that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a difference.
