A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
To the Cast and Crew of Newsies,
Bravo! You have done it! Months upon months of hard work and dedication has culminated to this night. You have all earned this moment. Take pride in the journey you have taken to reach this moment. It has been the little things that when put together create this beautiful performance we are all about to experience tonight.
This journey has not been easy. You have all faced challenges throughout this process, both as individuals and collectively as a group. From the moment you found the courage to attend an audition to the moment you take your final bow on this stage, you have all accepted these challenges and tackled them together and you persevered.
Perseverance. This is a theme at the center of our show. The theme of the story of all of our lives over these last several months. It is a story of everyday people working together to make all of our lives better. It is a story that even the smallest of us can make a big impact in this world if we believe in ourselves. It is a story about living for each other and caring about one another. A story about how when we are in the depths of uncertainty, we can look to lean on each other and move forward together. Take this opportunity tonight to shine bright on that stage not just for yourself but for your fellow cast and crew. Show us all how it’s done and give us all something to believe in.
For those of you who are sharing our stage for the first time, I have truly enjoyed seeing your fresh, new, and exciting skills and talents continue to grow and develop on this stage. You have all exceeded expectations. I can’t wait to see how you will all continue to shape this club in the years to come.
To my 8th graders and those who are taking their final bow on this stage, thank you for your gentle leadership;for your trust throughout all of the uncertainty over these last couple of years. Finally, thank you for the lasting memories that you leave to us all. Your mark has been forever imprinted on this stage and you will always have a home with the Middle School Drama Club.
Tonight, shine bright up there on this stage. Be there for each other and SEIZE THE DAY!
Take Flight!
