Mamma Mia - March 17 - March 19, 2022

Morris Knolls High School

 End Notes

An Irish Goodbye

Defined by the Urban Dictionary as: When someone makes an exit without advance notice or saying good-bye - thus avoiding  displaying any emotion.

I've always been prone to this type of farewell. Usually not at a loss for words, I find myself stymied as to how to properly "sign off” from directing the musicals here at Morris Knolls High School. As I write, I feel those dreaded emotions welling up inside me, yet I know that first and foremost, I want to say how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to do what I love. Directing the musicals here at MK has given me the most rewarding experiences of my life time as an artist and an educator.

Watching from the audience, as the house lights dim, I am always overcome by such pride in our students’ work, both on stage and behind the scenes. Sitting here tonight watching Mamma Mia!, my last musical here at Knolls, it is no different.  I am fulfilled beyond my wildest dreams.

Thank you, Morris Knolls, for hiring me to do this job fifteen years ago. Thank you to all the amazing students, parents and colleagues I have had the privilege to work with. Lastly, thank you to my family and friends for always being my biggest fans!

So, sit back and enjoy, and if you don't see me in the lobby after the show, remember, I'm 96 % Irish!

Warmly,

Sharon Cullen Garry
