Bridge to Terabithia - May 13 - May 15, 2021

Mount Vernon Christian School

 End Notes

The Bridge to Terabithia is a well known children's book that is read in many classrooms all around the world. The story deals with imagination and friendship. These are keys to any true childhood. As I watch my young daughter grow, I start to see her sense of imagination grow and grow as she learns to play in the world around her. Leslie and Jesse do just that here in Terabithia. All of these Terabithians are a part of their imagination.

But just like life, this play doesn't only deal with the easy parts in life. Leslie and Jesse deal with difficult situations and tough details before the climactic end of the play leaves Jesse dealing with some of the hardest aspects of life. The playwright deals with these details with such beauty and care, it feels altogether real.

I am so incredibly proud of these students and their incredible work over the past few months. In a world of so much uncertainty, we were all cautiously hoping for the play dates to come. If you followed our story, we were just one week away from our performance dates when the pause hit last spring. These students have worked so hard and are ready to perform. While we are still awaiting our normal, things like Drama and performances bring us one step closer to a sense of normalcy.

Thank you for coming out to support these students. Thank you for supporting the Fine Arts at MVC. Thank you for opening up your imagination to this play.
