DIRECTOR'S NOTE:
I'm not one to read scripts. Apparently I lack imagination while trying to piece together a story that at first is just words. I find that most shows I have chosen to direct come from ones that I have seen and truly experienced first hand. A Few Good Men is no different.
A year after high school (1996) I went to see a few of my friends in a show at Mesa Community College. This wasn't the first show I saw there. MCC has a reputation for putting on some of the best theater in the valley, in my opinion. I tried to make it to all of them. Two of my best friends were in the show A Few Good Men. I actually hadn't seen the movie, so my experience was geniune to the scripted play that came before the movie. Needless to say, I was stunned. It was a great show, and I have always dreamed of putting it on stage. (Note: Years later I found out that MP's math teacher Mr. Clay Lawson was Col. Jessup in the MCC play! The 'You can't handle the truth!!' guy! Neat!). One of the best parts about the show is how well it is written! It is written by Aaron Sorkin, the same guy who did The West Wing and The Social Network!
The students at MP have done an outstanding job with this show. We cast the show right before the holiday break. Not only did we have rehearsals each and every day, but we also had an added hour of bootcamp each day that involved military style training, exercise, running, an lots very hard work. The actors and crew made the most of each day, and over the last few weeks we have really grown as a cast and crew. We are very excited to perform this for you, and hope you enjoy!
Lastly, thank you for supporting the fine arts. It is really important, and means a lot to see some many people come out to support their school, their family and friends.
Enjoy the show!
