Thank you for coming to the theater and supporting our growth. With our growth, we help the community to grow and develop. It is our belief that theater has the power to change the world by creating a forum for ideas to be shared, discussed and then acted upon. It is important to bring shows with a topical message, especially when we are bombarded by incidents such as Charlottesville and Barcelona or the threats from Korea and even here at home. It is important to use our voice to stand up against tyranny and bigotry and hate. It has been a lifelong dream to bring it to the community and to help it heal in such a powerful and beautiful way. Spring Awakening deals with the youth rising in revolution-standing up for what they believe in, at a time of great upheaval in the world. As part of our mission, we strive to create an environment which allows young artists to develop their dreams.
Now into our 8th season, our dream is to bring you the best theater you have come to expect from Mysterium Theater. With this anniversary, we are ever so appreciative and grateful to have you joining us. There are so many ways to help us celebrate. We invite you to come play with us and become involved. You can become an actor or techie for one of our upcoming productions. You can volunteer to help bring more exciting theater to the community. You can become a flex ticket holder which allows you discounts on wonderful live entertainment. You can become a donor and help us to bring these shows to life.
The opening of Spring Awakening was brought about by some amazingly gifted friends working together to bring this production to the stage. We are so grateful to Miguel for inspiring us all to be the best we can be. We could not ask for a more giving and passionate director for this show. As Director and Choreographer, he brought together a group of people who lovingly melded into an ensemble and seamlessly told a story with grace and dignity.
Gabby Maldonado wore two hats for this show. She guided this talented bunch as musical director and is part of the cast herself bringing to life this beautiful and tragic tale.
Marianne Popodapolous is Stage Manager extraordinaire. She wrangles all of the technical aspects and runs the show as a well-oiled machine with the assistance of our assistant director Emily Martinez.
Our resident Lighting Designer, Brandon Phillips continued to bring a fresh new design to the production with his “rock show” feeling.
With doing Spring Awakening, we have found a production of wonderful new performers along with some of our special favorites returning to our stage. We hope you enjoy, and if you do, please spread the word and help us fill our seats and change the world. We change it by bringing ideas that allow discussion, by bringing audiences to a different environment and let them escape from the realities and stresses, and by bringing some fun and joy and some music you can walk out singing.
