    Director

    Martha Parker, Drama/Musical Theatre teacher at NDSS, is overjoyed to have a live orchestra accompany this year's production of Beauty and The Beast, thanks to fellow coleague, Rick Becker, who brings together an orchestra with some of our finest musicians in Nanaimo and Doug Roszmann, stepping up as orchestra director. This is Martha's 4th musical in partnership with The Port Theatre. Her musical theatre program is a unique collaboration with husband, Barry Parker, Doug Roszmann, Rick Becker, Danielle Dar Juan, Sarah Kielly, Hayley Banman, and her beloved musical theatre cast and crew.

    Assistant Director

    Danielle, a UBC graduate, is a Physical & Health Education teacher-on-call for SD 68 and a DANCEPL3Y Education School Program Instructor of a curriculum-based dance program supporting physical literacy and promoting positive mental health. Danielle completed her practica at NDSS, assisting with Curtains. Danielle, a stage veteran, is delighted to have this opportunity to pursue her passion for musical theatre as assistant-director. She would like to thank Martha Parker, the cast & crew of Beauty and the Beast, and NDSS for being part of her teaching journey. 

  • Doug Roszmann head shot

    Doug Roszmann

    Choral Director

    Doug has actively participated over the years in a wide variety of amateur theatre and music organizations.  He is currently a board member of the Nanaimo Sings choral organization, directs the Yellow Point Singers, sings with the Tidesmen mens accapella  chorus, and could be found acting, singing and helping out at Nanaimo Theatre Group.  He assisted in musical direction for three previous NDSS productions of Shrek (the musical) All Shook Up, and the Kander and Ebb musical production, Curtains.  He appreciates the work  students have put in since September and thanks Martha Parker for the opportunity to help develop these young singers.
