Derek Duarte
Lighting Design
Derek Duarte (Lighting Designer) designed for companies across the US including Berkeley Rep, San Jose Rep, Cal Shakespeare, Milwaukee Rep, Western Stage, Cleveland Play House, American Musical Theater of San Jose and Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Mr. Duarte was resident lighting designer at ACT for seven years and designed over 60 productions for the company. His work received awards from DramaLogue, Dean Goodman, Bay Area Theater Critics and Theater Bay Area. He received an BA from UC Berkeley and an MFA in theater technology from UCLA. Mr. Duarte is a senior lecturer at Santa Clara University.

Justin Gordon
Co-Director/Fight Director
After a brief stint studying Archaeology in college, Justin’s passion for the performing arts eventually took over, and he began his journey to become a working theatre and film artist. He went on to train at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, England, and received his M.F.A. in Theatre from the Professional Theatre Training Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He's worked as an actor and director in regional theatre across the United States, and internationally as an actor in film and TV. He was a founding Managing Partner and producer with FallBack Plan Productions, who were involved with producing the successful feature films “Absentia” and “Oculus.” Justin is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, Actor’s Equity Association, and is an Associate Member of The Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. Justin is grateful to the Monterey County arts community (and community at large) for welcoming New Canon Theatre Co. into their fold.
