J. Matthew Gordon
Artistic Director
J. Matthew has been a professional actor, director, producer, and theatre educator for over twenty years. He trained at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, and received his M.F.A. in Acting from the University of Illinois. His work has been seen both locally and at regional theatres across the country, and his film and television work has spanned the globe. As an educator, he has been a guest artist at colleges and universities, most recently as a visiting lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin, where he taught Acting Shakespeare in the Department of Theatre and Dance’s B.F.A. acting program. He is co-founder of New Canon, and is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in the arts, particularly through re-conceiving traditional notions of theatrical performance and education via empathetic and ensemble-driven collaboration. He is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, Actor’s Equity Association, and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
Justine Stock
Managing Director
A Miami, FL native with Argentine roots and resident of Monterey County, Justine is an actress, producer, writer, adventurer, educator, mother and arts advocate. She studied at the New World School of Arts and attended the SUNY Purchase College Theatre Conservatory, graduating Cum Laude. She has performed with Purchase College, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Friars Theatre, 45th Street Theatre, Pac Rep, Kangalee Arts Ensemble and more. Her screen work includes producing & starring alongside David Zayes and Dean Winters in the feature film “Brooklyn Bound,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. In 2017, she produced “White Face,” which won awards at festivals across the country. She curated & programmed three seasons of the shorts festival for the Carmel Jewish Film Festival. She is thrilled to have co-founded New Canon Theatre Co., supporting its mission of producing professional, diverse, equitable, and passionate theatre
