Lia's Love Story - March 12 - March 13, 2021

Newton South High

 From the Director

At rise:

Seventh grade Valerie is crying herself to sleep, because she thinks that she might like a girl. She could never imagine having the courage to tell her story with the world, but enter: a supportive family, true friends who help edit the script, a wonderfully dedicated and talented cast and crew, and finally an audience who chose to come see her story, my story, when they could have been doing any other quarantine activity. It feels so amazing to know that people want to see the words I wrote come to life on a stage, that my story is worth telling and sharing.

But really, it’s not just my story anymore. Every person who has touched this piece, whether it be the friend unknowingly becoming an influential character, the actor reading through my five pages of run through notes, the crew member trying to figure out whatever the heck a dream sequence is, or anyone else who has supported me through this journey. And if you’re reading this, that includes you, too. So, settle in with your popcorn, relax, and enjoy Lia's Love Story
