Catch Me If You Can - November 10 - November 12, 2016

North Kansas City High School

 Director's Note

Home. Although Catch Me If You Can is about the life of Frank Abagnale Jr.  The theme is about home. To many of us who create theatre - we find it is our second home.  We spend a lot of time working with the people in rehearsal, meetings and creating what you witness on the stage.  Just like our personal homes, there are sometimes tears, hurt feelings, and hopefully a lot of laughs. In our theatre home it leads to our growth as artists and human beings. NKCHS or Northtown is also our home. One of the reasons I chose this show is with the upcoming changes in our physical structure of Northtown - our home is changing.  After 92 years of theatre, concerts, meetings and other events, the auditorium will have a new function.  The Performing Arts are moving to a new Performing Arts Center.  My class room after 22 years will be used as an office or other classroom and I will be moving as well.  The memories of the classes, rehearsals, shows, lock-ins of myself and others will have to live on in old yearbooks, photos, and newspaper clippings while the next group of people will set out to continue the legacy of educational theatre in a new facility with state of the art equipment to train next generation of artists and technitions. I am fortunate enough to see the transition and help put into place a new facility that will develop more artists hopefully for the next 92 years. I would like to thank all of those who supported the initiative with your positive vote last August.  I would also like to thank Dr. Wartick for ensuring our voice is heard in the process that will not only give us a new auditorium but a black box/Flex theatre space as well.  My mind is already spinning with the possibilities. So as we say possibly good bye to the auditorium for the Fall Musical venue (not sure when we will be kicked out yet) I'd like to thank our seniors Daniel Castro, Caleb DeWitt, Jenna Kemp, Carolyn Klamm, Maymun Liban, Braxton Medellin, Bruce Menard, Dorveon Mulchy, Autumn Roth, Alex Salas, Scotty Sharp, & Tillie Test for your leadership and inspiration in rehearsals and creativity.  I'd also like to thank Dave Hershberger and his amazing musicians, Andrew Bowman, Susan Grace, Vinh Em, Steve Wagner and Stage Craft Class for your work in helping our students look and sound their best. Special Thanks to Amanda Dolinger for leading a team of students in creating our look, logo, tickets, programs etc. Whatever is thrown her way looks amazing.

Please enjoy the efforts of our students and welcome to our home,

Randy Jackson
