Descendants: The Musical - March 14 - March 17, 2024

North Platte High School

 End Notes

From the Directors

Sometimes, you just have to take a chance.  A chance on a new job or a new hairstyle or a new car...or in this case, a new type of musical.  We have historically stayed away from what we would consider a "bubble gum" show.  This is the type of show that has a nice message, but is really just meant to entertain. These shows aren't incredibly technical and are meant to just make you feel good.  And then we asked ourselves, why are we staying away from something that is fun, engaging, energetic and can help develop our younger actors and actresses?  And we decided to take a chance.  I am so glad that we did.

There are not enough things in this world that are solely meant to make us smile.  And we have had a great time putting this show together.  We have had a lot of smiles, laughs and a ton of learning.  We took a chance with this show and these students have learned to take a chance on stage...to become someone else...to sing with more confidence....to make new friends....to learn more about themselves and what they are capable of....and that it really is okay to just have a good time.

This show has provided us, as always, with new memories of students that will inevitably go on to be doctors, lawyers, teachers, nurses, engineers, and hopefully, who will continue to be musicians.  To our cast, thanks for all the laughs and for reminding us, as adults, that we don't always have to take everything quite so seriously.  We are so proud of all of the growth you have made over the last 8 weeks as actors and actresses, musicians, and as human beings.

To the parents, thank you for lending us your kids for all this time, both at the school and the hours they probably spent practicing their choreography at home!  We feel blessed to be a small part of their high school journey!

To the seniors, thank you for all you have contributed to NPHS in your time as a student here. We are proud of you! As you enjoy your last couple of months as a Bulldog, we hope you can begin to look back fondly on all you have accomplished and that you will store away all those happy memories for a rainy day!  And most of all, we wish you a life full of love, happiness, theater, and as always, a constant song in your heart!  No matter where life takes you, we will always be your biggest fans!
