I am very proud to be the director of the Nest Theatre Drama Club at North Twin Lakes Elementary School. This year’s production of Encanto the Musical combined the unique and varied talents of over 30 students, staff, parents, and community members. I would like to say a very special THANK YOU to the following:
Mr. Jose Fernandez (dad of Pepa) for supporting me and this incredible program, and for never clipping my wings, thus giving me the freedom to just create. For catching me right before I was to plunge into a “pink abyss”, and for all the “violin chats”. You are appreciated.
Mr. Daniel Atlas. I don’t have a little brother, but if I did, you would be it. Thank you for including drama into your community school program. Thank you for almost, always shooting down all my ideas and then finding a way to motivate me to an even crazier idea. Thanks for screaming at me, but never raising your voice. Thanks for being a part of all things drama. You are “special” in more ways than one.
The Nest Theatre Booster Club. I am so very grateful for you. There is no drama production without you and your support (both emotionally and financially). Drama with a budget is the best thing in the world! Special recognition to Ms. Nino (props and makeup), Ms. Pompa (everything, everywhere, all at once). Ms. Abelarias (Ms. Yes, I understand, and I have it under control), Ms. Marrero (the maker of flower arrangements and cotton candy) and Ms. Garcia (Ms. I can cook anything).
Melissa Garcia (mom of Mirabel and Bruno), Madam Booster Club President. What can be said about you? Thank you for all your support, for leading this new machine (The Booster Club), for all your energy, crazy texts, ideas, taking turns quitting with me, and involving your entire family into this madness! What a year this has been! They don’t call it drama club for nothing! You are appreciated.
Doris Pompa (mom of Abuela Alma), “The Queen of Cart”, you are amazing! Thank you for all your corny jokes, sarcasm, support, diligence and dedication to all things Booster and Drama! In the words of YOU, “look at how much better things are with you around”. You are the best. Thanks to your daughter Bri and cousin Gabby as well. I love you all.
Trena Lopez, for always listening to me mentally slip away (as always with drama) as you present with a look that says, “oh my”, and a solution in a gift bag or box. This year, you delivered a solution in the form of a person (followed by a solution, in a box). As always, you are invaluable, loved, and adored.
Virginia, aka Senora Flores. Thank you to Virginia who has been making paper flowers for over a month. There are beautiful, pink flowers everywhere and they are the free-hand creation of Senora Flores. No production is complete without your touch, and I appreciate you for all your creative flair!
Dr. Isabel Siblesz (Doc). Thank you for your continued and unwavering support of the drama program. Even in retirement, you continue supporting this program which was created during your tenure here at North Twin Lakes. You are an appreciated and treasured friend. Thank you.
Ms. Manuela Garcia (Julietta’s mom), thank you for all of the delicious home cooked meals. I felt the love in every bite.
To the best Office Staff in the entire world! Not only do they help me with all my activities, but they also give me Cuban coffee, pastelitos, and encouraging talks. This office staff is the nerve center that makes up North Twin Lakes and I am so blessed to be embraced by each and every one of you.
The NTL Custodial Staff. The custodians at this school are the best! When I work late, they are there to remind me that there will be no extra checks provided (that’s code for vamonos)! For every event or activity, they are there to help and they never refuse my requests for assistance. I am grateful for each and everyone of you. Thank you!
