WITCH - April 17 - April 26, 2025

Northeastern Illinois University

 Director's Note

Witch asks if there is more to life than pursuits of material things and petty revenges. It asks whether we should be willing to give up parts of ourselves in service of what we think we want. It shows that there are consequences to some of the deals we make with others and within our own minds. Are the consequences worth it?

Witch is a play about hope and despair.

Can we coexist with despair? Is hope possible?

Perhaps some of us only ever meet our true selves when our dreams might actually become a reality.

I wish to dedicate this production to the memory of John Bliss, a greatly missed colleague from the CMT Department who passed away last year. I’d like to think he would have enjoyed this show, and that we may have been privileged to hear his distinctive laugh ring out on a few occasions.

Enjoy your rest, John!
