Seussical - April 04 - April 06, 2025

Northern Burlington Co. Reg. HS

 LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome to Northern Burlington!

We are so thrilled that you are joining us for our spring production of Seussical!

The students at Northern are exceptional individuals with their own unique set of experiences and world views, which come together to culminate in defining the culture of what it means to be a Greyhound. They have pushed themselves beyond their comfort zones to discover the boundlessness of their talents. They have dug deep within themselves to persevere in ever-changing conditions and to hone their craft. In this lesson of molding, and expanding as individuals in ways they couldn’t have imagined, we are incredibly proud to be sharing this experience with them.

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.”

This is probably my favorite Dr. Seuss quote.  It is my “confidence wish” for others.  Of course, I dream of a time where kindness is the rule and we look out for others the way we hope others look out for us. But most of all, I want the people around me to feel that what they have to say (or sing) matters. That it is worth listening to.

In Seussical, there are two characters who wrestle with the issue of confidence and having others believe in them.  Jojo has a mind that gets her into trouble because of her runaway imagination.  Many around Horton think he is a silly elephant who has made up teeny tiny friends on a flower. Both Jojo and Horton go on a journey and meet some fantastical folks and creatures along the way. Some help and some hinder their travels. But have no fear, our show provides a happy ending with barbaric yawps and characters that grow to be seen and loved for who they truly are.

In this year’s production, we portray the world of Jojo’s “thinks” (and the Cat in the Hat’s machinations) as the high school she will soon attend. It is filled with all different kinds of students and teachers and staff as colorful as anything in Jojo’s sketchbook.  There are hard pills to swallow, baths to be taken, and even a circus to attend!

We could not be more proud of the cast, crew, families, staff, and community that have all worked tirelessly to bring the world of Seuss to life.

Anything’s possible in our little show.

So enjoy all the wonderful places you’ll go!
