“IMPOSSIBLE!” It seems impossible that I’ve directed 10 shows
at Northwest! And how “fitting” (no pun intended!) that my 10th show
be Rodgers and Hammerstein’s magical and beautiful Cinderella!
The music in this show is timeless, and when producers decided
to revive the show in 2013, they added a few more beautiful songs to
the score! (Don’t confuse this with the Disney movie — no Bibbidi,
Bobbidi Boo!) The fairy godmother in the Broadway score sings a
rich, wonderful ballad, “The Music in You,” that gives Cinderella (or
Ella, as she is called in the script) the encouragement she needs to
break free from her cruel stepfamily! You’ll also notice a few changes
to the story through the addition of some wonderful new characters
and new plot-twists!
I don’t think we’ve ever worked harder, and I know I’ve never been
prouder of a group of actors, singers, directors, choreographers,
stage-crewers, tech-boothers, set-builders, costume-wranglers, prop-
gatherers, ticket-sellers, and enthusiastic parents!
Will this be our most delightful musical yet? As a fairy godmother I
know might say, “IT’S POSSIBLE!”
Thank you for coming, and enjoy the show!
